About
Welcome to Prosford Studio!
Kia ora! I'm Katherine, a primary-trained teacher and the founder of Prosford Studio. I'm excited to welcome you to this space dedicated to nurturing students through tutoring and the performing arts.
Teaching Experience
Over the past 10 years, Iβve had the privilege of teaching students at primary, intermediate and secondary schools. I've taught both here in Auckland and in London in a variety of roles from classroom teacher to PE teacher to Literacy Support through full-time, fixed term and relieving work.
Iβve always loved running after-school clubs, preparing for performance days and bringing school productions to life, so opening Prosford Studio felt like a natural next step. I have loved getting to work with so many awesome students and seeing them grow in confidence in this short time has been so rewarding already! I'm excited to keep growing my classes throughout 2026 and hope to keep bringing new classes to the table!
Alongside running the studio, I teach at school 4 days a week. This helps me to stay up-to-date with best teaching practices and bring a broad range of experience and creative ideas to my studio work.
Beyond the classroom
Outside of classroom teaching, I've been fortunate to do some travel over the past few years, mostly around Europe and the UK. I performed in the ensemble of The Addams Family (October 2024) and The Wizard of Oz (December 2024) with City Academy in London. I love spending time outdoors, especially getting out on bikepacking adventures. When I have a spare minute (which is getting rarer by the day now!), I enjoy blog writing and creating teaching resources which I host on my attheminute teaching website.
Why Prosford Studio?
Opening my own studio had been a dream of mine for a long time so I'm thrilled to have made it a reality! Now that I'm one year in, I can see more than ever that teaching is where I'm meant to be β there aren't too many things more rewarding than seeing a student's confidence grow and helping them find that spark of inspiration and pride in their work.
My Approach
I believe in a balanced approach to teaching that combines high expectations with patience, understanding, and, of course, a generous sprinkle of FUN! I want my students to leave each lesson excited, motivated, and confident in their ability to tackle new tasks. By building foundational skills, resilience, and a love of learning, I aim to equip students with the tools they need to succeed as they come across challenges - both in school and beyond.
